Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Emotional Regulation

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive-behavioral treatment developed by Marsha M. Linehan. It focuses on providing therapeutic skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is particularly effective for clients with borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and those who have difficulty regulating emotions. The therapy combines individual psychotherapy with group skills training classes to enhance clients' abilities to manage emotional surges, improve relationships, and live more mindful, present lives.
